Achaman
Achaman is performed in order to purify oneself before starting worship. The water for the acamana is poured into a small vessel (panchapatra) intended for this purpose.
Place three spoons of water (with the help of a specially designed spoon called “kushi”) from the panchapatra on the palm of your right hand, say “Om Keshavaya namah”,first the mantra “Om Narayanaya namah” and then the mantra ” Om Madhavaya namah.”
Finally, one should drip three drops into the palm and shake the water aside, reciting the mantra “Om Govindaya namah”.
Then one should bow and ask the guru for permission to start worship.
